How Pavlok Works

Happy Wednesday Pavlokians!

Today I wanted to take a moment to explain HOW Pavlok works to help users break bad habits.

While we’ve helped thousands of people around the world quit their bad habits for good over the last four years, we still get hundreds of emails a day asking about the science behind Pavlok and whether or not it’s truly effective.

And though we’ll let the results speak for themselves, I wanted to dive in a little deeper.

Even if you’ve been a part of the Pavlok community for years, I think you’ll find what I have to say interesting. 🙂

How Pavlok Works

Pavlok isn’t just some random wearable that “shocks” you. In fact, it is designed with both the latest science and habit change research on its side.

At it’s most simple form, Pavlok is a behavior training device that works by utilizing averse conditioning. Aversive conditioning is essentially behavior training that uses negative stimuli and association to help reaffirm a specific action as undesirable.

The reason so many people continue to smoke even though they know it’s bad… is because for many smoking IS pleasurable.

The reason so many people continue to consume unhealthy snack after unhealthy snack is because it often DOES taste good.

And that’s why Pavlok is ultimately so effective.

Using the slightly uncomfortable stimulus of a shock, Pavlok 2 helps train your brain to associate the bad behavior with the uncomfortable stimulus.  And after as little as a few weeks of associating the two with consistent use, your brain begins to say:

“Hey wait a second. Maybe I DON’T like smoking.”

“Hey wait a second, maybe that donut doesn’t do much for me at all.”

Which puts the ball back in your court.

You know that friend who won’t eat Taco Bell anymore after she got a terrible case of food poisoning? Or your other friend who swore off alcohol after having three too many shots?

That’s aversive conditioning.

While many users have used Pavlok to break their habits for GOOD, we know that habit change is a life long journey.

Even with the best tools, resources, and knowledge on your side, we can sometimes slip up. Which is what makes Pavlok so powerful.

You can use the device whenever you need and as much as you want. So you are always equipped to handle whatever life throws your way.

So while it may seem like “overkill” to literally zap yourself every time you engaged in a bad behavior, it’s quite possibly one of the most effective ways to truly alter your behavior.

Best yet, the process is simple.

1. Wear your Pavlok 2 throughout the day.

2. Whenever you engage in the behavior you’re trying to quit, give yourself a zap.

3. Within 3-5 days, you’ll begin to notice your cravings significantly reduced if not gone entirely.

If you’re looking to quit smoking, stop biting your nails, or cut that unhealthy guilty pleasure out of your life and more..

The Pavlok 2 gives you the best chance of succeeding.
